The Smart Apartment is not all electronics. Some smart ideas are mechanical. The dual flush toilet cistern is one of these. You can save a considerable amount of water to help the environment (and perhaps save some money) with a properly installed unit. These units have two buttons: one for a full flush and one for half, as required by the user.

The half flush, for liquid, uses 5 litres per flush. The full flush, for solids, uses 10litres per flush depending on the model.

 

Using the 5/10 LPF dual flush technology can reduce water usage by 40% compared with traditional toilets that use 10 LPF in a single flush.
